Which sport should be considered Japan’s national sport?

Essay

I believe that Karate, Sumo, Judo and Kendo, should be considered Japan’s national sport for the two following reasons.
The first reason is that they all originated from Japan. The words, Karate, Sumo, Judo, Kendo, are established in English and Webster’s dictionary defines Karate as a Japanese art of self-defense, Sumo as Japanese form of wrestling, Judo as a sport which was developed in Japan adapted from jujitsu, Kendo as a Japanese sport of fencing. Thus, as the most authoritative dictionary defines them as Japanese sports and they all originated from Japan, it is natural to consider them as Japan’s national sport.
The second reason is that the word, “do (michi)”, in Judo and Kendo which means “way” or “art” is Japanese traditional concept. “Do (michi)” originated from Japanese spirit of Samurai culture. Therefore, it is impossible for Judo and Kendo to originate and develop in a country which does not have the concept of “do (michi)”. Hence it is natural to consider sports which have been rooted in Japanese traditional concept as Japan’s national sport.
As I mentioned, for the aforementioned two reasons, I believe that Karate, Sumo, Judo and Kendo, should be considered Japan’s national sport.

メモ

どのスポーツが日本の国技となるべきか?です。
日本発祥のものである事と、日本の「道」という概念を根底に持つスポーツである事の、2つを理由に、空手、相撲、柔道、剣道を、日本の国技とするべきだという主張のエッセイを書いてみました。
空手も空手道、相撲も相撲道という言葉を耳にしますし、それらの起源は、サムライの武士道から来ているようです。
