Government’s roles in managing crisis situations

Essay

I believe that there are two major government’s roles in managing crisis situations.
The first role is to take effective precautions. Prevention is everything in most circumstances and effective precautions can prevent crisis. For example, there are many cases that acts of terrorism were prevented while terrorists were preparing their attacks. Therefore government should raise people’s awareness of the importance of precaution, and people should inform the police about suspicious activity. It makes a big difference to just be aware of suspicious people and objects, all the time.
The second role is to grasp the current circumstances correctly and take the proper measures because it depends on the situation how to deal with the crisis, and only the appropriate measures can minimize the number of casualties and alleviate the aftermath. Also, government should never either spread unnecessary fear or recklessly ignore the dangers, and tell people the truth, and people should never panic and help and cooperate with each other to recover from the crisis.
In conclusion, as I mentioned, I believe that government’s roles in managing crisis situations are to take effective precautions, and to grasp the current circumstances correctly and take the proper measures.
