Monogamy vs. Polygamy

Essay

◆ Monogamy
Although some people are for polygamy, I am for monogamy and now I would like to mention about the merits.
Firstly, polygamy degrades women. It is nothing but sex discrimination to allow men to have many wives while women can have only one husband.
Secondly, monogamy costs much less than polygamy. It is a fact that it costs much more to support ten wives than to support one wife. If each of ten wives gives birth to their child, it costs even more.
Thirdly, monogamy builds stronger family bonds. It is not hard to imagine that a man who has only one wife can take a much better care of her than a man who has ten wives. This is not ethics but science. As long as one is on the earth, all the people have only 24 hours a day and one body. Considering that an average person sleeps for 8 hours a day, a man who has one wife can spend 16 hours with his wife while a man who has ten wives can spend only 1.6 hours with each of his wives.
As I mentioned, for the aforementioned reasons, I am for monogamy.

◆ Polygamy
Although some people are for monogamy, I am for polygamy and now I would like to mention about the merits.
Firstly, it is a biological fact that men are created to produce a lot of sperms to produce as many children as possible while women are created to protect one egg. It is illogical to go against this medical truth and to allow men to have only one wife because it is biologically natural for men to have many wives. Human beings must not go against this scientific fact.
Secondly, polygamy can be a solution to aging society. In countries, like Japan, where the number of young people has been decreasing while the number of elderly people has been increasing, it is imperative to boost the birth rate. Since it is natural that a man who has many wives can produce more children than a man who has only one wife, polygamy is an effective way to increase the birth rate and the number of young people. As the aging society has too many and serious problems, this is a real benefit.
As I mentioned, for the aforementioned reasons, I am for polygamy.
