Should there be a maximum wage?

◆ Pros
 I strongly believe that there should be a maximum wage for the two following reasons.
 The first reason is that it prevents the gap between the rich and the poor from expanding too much. If this gap is limited, employees can cooperate more instead of competing, and consequently, society will become a much more friendly one, and as a result, it reduces work-related stress. Considering that many people suffer from mental illness and some of them even commit suicide because of work problems, this is a real benefit. Moreover company will make more profits when its employees cooperate in harmony, and this is a benefit to the economy too.
 The second reason is that it gives employees with lower ranks more opportunities to receive higher salary so that it boosts the morale of employees with lower ranks. It is often these employees who do actual work because the main job of employees with higher ranks is ordering and organizing. Therefore, the higher the morale of employees with lower ranks is, the higher the quality of job becomes.
 As I mentioned, for the two aforementioned reasons, I strongly believe that there should be a maximum wage.

◆ Cons
 I do not believe that there should be a maximum wage for the two following reasons.
 The first reason is that it lowers employee’s morale. No matter how hard one works, if the wage one can earn is limited, it is inevitable that one cannot put oneself into work seriously. Moreover it hinders employee performance because employees can improve their skills by competing with each other in order to get higher salary than others. Consequently, the quality of work decreases, and the sales will deteriorate. This is a serious harm to the already sagging economy.
 The second reason is that it is unfair to limit the wage of employees who bring a lot of profits to the company. Wages should be proportionate to the quality of work which employees do. For example, if a maximum wage is 30 million yen, an employee who brings 100 billion yen and an employee who brings 1 billion yen receive the same salary of 30 million yen. This is completely outrageous.
 As I mentioned, for the aforementioned two reasons, I do not believe that there should be a maximum wage.

◆ トピック:最高賃金はあるべきか?

例によって、賛成派と反対派を書きました。

賛成派では、
「貧富の差を減らせる」
「下の方の従業員でも高い給料を得るチャンスになり、士気が高まる」
の2つを、キーアイディアに書いてみました。

反論としては、
「従業員の賃金を制限すると、経営者の取り分が増え、貧富の差は広がってしまうのでは?」
「最高賃金を設定されると、頑張っても、上限があるので、むしろ、やる気がなくなるのでは?」
などが考えられます。

反対派では、
「従業員の士気を下げる」
「会社に多額の利益をもたらす社員の賃金を制限する事は不公平」
の2つを、キーアイディアに書いてみました。

反論としては、
「むしろ、会社内がある程度、共産主義的になったほうが、競争が減り、友好的に働けるので、従業員の士気が高まるのでは?」
「いくら稼いだかだけで従業員を評価するのはどうなのか?」
などが考えられますね。
