Should companies hire more elderly people?

◆ Pros
 I believe that companies should hire more elderly people for the three following reasons.
 The first reason is that elderly people have more experience than younger ones. In working environment, one of the most important things is life experience. In any field, mastering some skill is extremely time-consuming and it is rare for young people to achieve it. However, elderly people are more likely to have some great skills because they live longer. Therefore, elderly people may be more competent than younger ones.
 The second reason is that in this aging society it is inevitable to hire elderly people. As the number of elderly people has been increasing and that of young people has been decreasing rapidly, the workforce is extremely in short supply. Under these circumstances, it is indispensable to hire more elderly people.
 The third reason is that now people live longer. Several decades ago, it might be normal for people to retire when they were around 60 because the life expectancy was around 65 then. However, now people live until around 85. Hence it is more reasonable to lengthen the retiring age according to the growing life expectancy.
 As I mentioned, for the aforementioned three reasons, I believe that companies should hire more elderly people.

◆ Cons
 I do not believe that companies should hire more elderly people for the three following reasons.
 The first reason is that elderly people should take good care of their health. Constitution stipulates that all the people have the right to enjoy good health. Therefore, considering that work costs many people their health, especially elderly people who are more likely to suffer from ill health should not work.
 The second reason is that the government should hire more young foreigners instead of elderly people. In this internationalized world, it is important to accept more foreigners. The government hiring more young foreigners from developing countries, more poor people can be saved.
 The third reason is that human beings should work less. This is not specific to elderly people. The biggest reason for environmental pollution is human beings’ economic activity. In other words, the more people work, the more polluted the environment gets. Human beings should wake up from the brainwashing of capitalism and consumerism and materialism. Therefore, younger people should work less and elderly people should not work.
 As I mentioned, for the aforementioned three reasons, I do not believe that companies should hire more elderly people.

◆ トピック:企業は高齢者をもっと雇うべきか?

例によって、賛成派と反対派を書きました。

賛成派では、
「高齢者のほうが若い人より人生経験が豊富」
「高齢化社会で、高齢者を雇わざる終えない」
「人類の寿命の伸びに従って、退職年齢も伸ばすべき」
の3つを、メインに、書いてみました。

反論としては、
「そうとは限らないのでは?」
「外国人を雇えばいいのでは?」
「寿命が延びても、高齢者は高齢者で、じっくり体を休ませるべきでは?」
などが考えられます。

反対派では、
「高齢者は、体を大事にするべき」
「高齢者の代わりに外国人を雇うべき」
「人間が働けば働くほど環境を汚染するので、人類は仕事を減らすべき」
の3つを、キーアイディアに書いてみました。

反論としては、
「体を大事にしながら働く事も出来るのでは?」
「外国人か高齢者かの二元論ではなく、両方雇えばいいのでは?」
「環境にいい仕事もたくさんあるのでは?」
などが考えられます。
