Is it possible to reduce the number of elderly shoplifters in Japan?

Essay

◆ Pros
I believe that it is possible to reduce the number of elderly shoplifters in Japan for the two following reasons.
The first reason is that the government can give more financial assistance to the elderly. Some of elderly people shoplift because of lack of money. Therefore they will not have to shoplift anymore if they have enough money. Japan still has a lot of great possibilities to enhance the economy so that it is not hard for the government to give more money to the elderly.
The second reason is that the government can provide the elderly with more jobs. One of the biggest reasons that many elderly people shoplift is that they have nothing useful to do or they feel lonely and need attention. The most effective solution to this is providing them with jobs because the elderly people with life experience and wisdom are capable workers and younger people will need them and consequently elderly people have something useful to do and they do not feel lonely. Then, they don’t have to shoplift anymore.
As I mentioned, for the aforementioned two reasons, I believe that it is possible to reduce the number of elderly shoplifters in Japan.

◆ Cons
I believe that it is impossible to reduce the number of elderly shoplifters in Japan for the two following reasons.
The first reason is that the number of elderly people has been increasing dramatically in Japan. The increase in the number of the population means the increase in the number of shoplifters. This is simple math. If the percentage of the shoplifters is 0.001%, as the number of the elderly increases from 5,000,000 to 30,000,000, the number of shoplifters increases from 5,000 to 30,000.
The second reason is that the world has become more and more cold and unfriendly as it has been capitalized and materialized and the bonding between community members is gone. One of the biggest reasons that many elderly people shoplift is that they are suffering from mental problems such as kleptomania, loneliness, attention seeking, depression, and so on. The only solution to this is that the world becomes a place where people help each other unconditionally and regain the bonding of each other. However, cold and unfriendly capitalism has only accelerated the destruction of human bonding.
As I mentioned, for the aforementioned two reasons, I believe that it is impossible to reduce the number of elderly shoplifters in Japan.
